The
Telefunken Elektroakustik M80
gives the user a superior alternative to the midrange-laden character of the "industry standard microphone."
The M80 is available in two head-grille colors: the "standard" silver (shown), or the "studio" black, or we can send you BOTH the silver and the black grilles for just $20 more.
Featuring a wider frequency response and higher SPL capabilities the M80 delivers condenser-like performance in a rugged dynamic design, producing a microphone equally suitable for voice, instruments or drums on both stage and in the studio.
Due to its low mass capsule and super thin (yet surprisingly rugged) capsule membrane the M80 presents a wider range of emotion from a live vocal with an intimacy that has been traditionally reserved for studio quality condenser microphones.
The head and capsule assembly has been designed to reduce proximity effect to which nets added low end clarity for vocals, while still providing "strength" and "authority" and an "open," "airy" character without adding danger of upper midrange feedback or "honk."
The M80 also features American made custom wound impedance matching transformer which is where the magic really takes place. When coupled with our proprietary capsule assembly, the results have won hearts and minds in far less time since it's introduction than we ever imagined possible.

Green Day Tours with M80 Micropones
"The M80s are awesome," comments Green Day engineer Chris Dugan, who works with the band on the road and in the studio. "We put the M80 on a snare drum and that is where I fell in love with it. It was exactly what we wanted on Tre's snare. When it came time to tour, I suggested it to Kevin Lemoine, our FOH (Front of House) mixer, and when we tried it on vocals is when I saw the light. We've been mixing some live shows from Japan before we got the M80s and compared with later shows with the TELEFUNKENs, it is like night and day."
"Without any EQ added," Dugan continued, "the M80 has a crisp top end, there's more rejection of unwanted stage sounds, and it has a nice tight pattern, which is very important for us. It almost sounds like it has been EQ'd, with a ton of clarity, a lot of top end without being sizzly, and a nice warm body to it. Before the M80s, we had a lot of guitar and cymbal bleed in Billie's mic, but not any more."
Lawrence Manchester Picks TELEFUNKEN M 80 for Guest Artists on "Late Night"
Lawrence Manchester, music mixer for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon", has picked the M 80 dynamic microphone from TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik as his preferred vocal mic for guest musical artists. "I needed a vocal mic that could meet the challenges I encounter with our particular stage and setup," he explained.
"With close monitor wedges and a loud PA, getting clarity and isolation from the vocals is an ongoing challenge," Manchester commented. "The direct sound-to-leakage ratio is far better than other mics I have tried and on our small stage the Telefunken M 80 gives me the best shot at getting the vocals present in the mix."
