APPLICATIONS
This microphone was designed for critical audiophile applications such as orchestral recordings in fine acoustic environments. With a very low noise specification, it can be used for chamber music or for classical recordings where clarity and detailed response are vital. It is a very transparent microphone, that can be used on Concert Grand Pianos, for Vocals, or Broadcast Voice Talent; and with four polar patterns, it offers great versatility!!
"I used the TL tonight on a nylon string guitar. I never would have imagined that mic would have such a spectacular sound on a nylon string, which has to be one of the hardest instruments to record properly. If you're too close to the sound hole you get a boomy sound - too far away the sound gets thin, etc... But with the TL set to "figure 8" the eq response of the mic was just perfect. That's it for my AKG 414*, which up until now had been my favorite mic for recording nylon string. Just a beautiful sound, that's all I can say.
A producer could have a closet full of ONLY ADK mics, and still be ready to record ANY session in ANY style. How many mic manufacturers can say that?"
