What we think:
The CS-1 does something almost magical to the T's and S's and breath of a vocalist that just turns everything to silk. A vintage U47 might come close, but a CS-1 definitely does it's own thing. No other modern mic sounds like this.
Description:
The Model CS-1 takes its chassis (body) from the Standard ADK Model TT. The CS-1 uses a common back-plate, dual-active gold vapor-deposit diaphragm BK47 capsule which is patterned after the famous K47 capsule.
The CS-1 Class A Valve (Tube) Condenser exhibits a robust and linear low-end and slightly thick low-mids with pronounced but predictable proximity effect.
Additionally, the CS-1 creates a slight presence boost with sweet highs; a delight on any source material, but particularly on all vocalists: male/female, singers/broadcast talent.
The user can choose between a 12AX7A for high gain and low noise, or a 12AY7 for slightly less sensitivity, hence more headroom (both tubes are included). CS-1s are built one-at-a-time and rigorously tested in Europe at NoHype Studios, or in the U.S.A. at Imagitraxx Studios, whose owners have fifty years in the recording arts.
